Motors on Midland at TACAW (May 18, 2024)
This year's Motors on Midland will rev its engines in a new location at Willits Town Center due to the Midland Avenue Streetscape project. Classic cars, hot rods, and VW vans will take over Basalt, featuring live music, a beer garden, and an award for the best in show. This event benefits the Basalt Education Foundation, making it a great way to support local education while enjoying a night of automotive excellence.
Basalt Half Marathon (June 1, 2024)
Arguably the fastest and most scenic half marathon on the Western Slope, the Basalt Half Marathon offers a downhill course along the Fryingpan River. Starting 13.1 miles from Basalt at the base of Ruedi Reservoir, runners will finish in downtown Basalt. This event is perfect for those looking to set a personal record or simply enjoy a beautiful run.
Roaring Fork Conservancy River Float (June 8, 2024)
Experience the Roaring Fork River up close with the annual River Float. Join the Roaring Fork Conservancy and local river ambassadors for a morning float with Blazing Adventures and Blue Sky Rafting. After the float, enjoy a lunch catered by Slow Groovin' at the River Center. It's a fantastic way to connect with nature and the local community.
Basalt Sunday Market (June 16 – September 29, 2024)
The Basalt Sunday Market has become a summer institution, running every Sunday from mid-June to the end of September. Located on Midland Spur in front of Basalt Town Hall, the market features fresh produce from midvalley farmers, fine crafts, prepared foods, and live music. Open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. rain or shine, it’s the perfect place to spend a summer Sunday.
Basalt Summer Concert Series (June 19 – August 28, 2024)
A longstanding tradition, the Basalt Summer Concert Series brings a variety of musical genres to Basalt River Park on Wednesday evenings. Enjoy free concerts from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., and make a night of it by supporting local businesses for dinner or happy hour afterward.
Crown Mountain Park Summerfest Series (May 31, June 13, June 27, July 11, 2024)
Celebrate summer with the Crown Mountain Park Summerfest Series. Kicking off with a screening of "The Goonies" under the stars, the series includes live music and free activities for kids of all ages. Bring a blanket, chairs, and a picnic to enjoy these fun-filled evenings.
Willits Local Vocals (May 31 – September 6, 2024)
New for 2024, Triangle Park will host Willits Local Vocals, featuring intimate live music performances every other Friday night. This series will spotlight local artists and emerging talent, making it a must-see for music lovers.
TACAW's Annual Gala (June 27, 2024)
TACAW's biggest fundraising event of the year, the Annual Gala, features live music, comedy, cocktails, a seated dinner, and a festive after-party. Proceeds support TACAW’s mission to elevate the artistic community in the Roaring Fork Valley.
Basalt River Jams (July 6, 2024)
A new event for 2024, Basalt River Jams will feature performances from five bands at Basalt River Park. The event includes Basalt’s first annual Boat Parade, with participants floating from Fisherman’s Park to Duroux Park. Details on how to participate will be available on the Town’s website and social media.
Aspen Valley Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K (July 13, 2024)
This scenic run along the Rio Grande Trail is a Boston Qualifier, making it a prime event for serious runners. The marathon and half marathon descend from Aspen to Basalt, offering beautiful views and a net downhill course perfect for a personal record.
National Night Out (August 6, 2024)
Join the Basalt community for National Night Out, an annual campaign to promote police-community partnerships. Hosted by the Basalt Police Department and local first responders, the event includes a block party, cookout, and a showcase of emergency vehicles.
pARTy at The Art Base (August 17, 2024)
Support The Art Base’s mission at their annual gala, featuring a cocktail reception, fine dining, live music, and a silent auction of 10” x 10” artworks. This event fosters creative expression and community engagement in the visual arts.
Basalsa (August 24, 2024)
Dance the day away at Basalsa, a family-friendly salsa festival featuring workshops, social dancing, performances, and live music. Hosted by TACAW in partnership with Mezcla Socials Dance, this free event is a highlight of the summer.
Taste of Basalt (November 2, 2024)
Support the Basalt Education Foundation at the annual Taste of Basalt. Held at the Roaring Fork Club, this event includes food samples, wine tasting, dancing, and a silent auction. Proceeds enhance education in Basalt Public Schools.
Basalt Turkey Trot (November 28, 2024)
Burn off your Thanksgiving feast and support local schools at the Basalt Turkey Trot. Choose between a 5K run or a one-mile fun run, with music, concessions, and prizes for best costume.
Menorah Lighting (December 25, 2024)
Celebrate Hanukkah with the annual Menorah Lighting ceremony at Triangle Park in Willits Town Center, hosted by the Town of Basalt and Aspen Jewish Congregation.
Holiday Tree Lightings (December 6 and December 13, 2024)
Get into the holiday spirit with tree lighting events at Triangle Park in Willits and Basalt River Park. Enjoy caroling, visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, and a chance to shop local for the holidays.
