Snowmass Village is entering an important new chapter as Elevated Returns has officially launched the public review process for a major reinvestment in the West Village. The proposal, now formally submitted to the Town of Snowmass Village through a land use application, introduces plans for a reimagined hospitality and residential destination anchored by a Ritz-Carlton branded hotel.
At its core, the project is designed to revitalize one of Snowmass’ most visible gateway sites while reinforcing the town’s long-term resort and community vision. The goal is not only to modernize a key property, but to elevate how the West Village functions for visitors, residents, and the local workforce alike.
The plan calls for a comprehensive redevelopment of the existing West Village hotel property, transforming it into a next-generation Ritz-Carlton experience with expanded amenities, upgraded conference and meeting facilities, and a mix of hotel accommodations and residential components. A key element of the proposal also includes additional on-site housing for workers, helping address one of the valley’s most pressing needs while supporting year-round hospitality operations.
By improving lodging, gathering spaces, and livability, the vision aims to make the West Village a more vibrant and functional hub for both tourism and community life.
With the land use application now submitted, the project enters Snowmass Village’s formal review and engagement framework. This includes technical analysis by town staff, followed by public meetings and hearings with both the Planning Commission and Town Council. Throughout this process, residents, business owners, and stakeholders will have opportunities to learn about the proposal, provide feedback, and shape how it evolves.
Elevated Returns has emphasized that this will be a transparent and collaborative process, guided by Snowmass Village’s Destination Management Plan and long-term community goals.
Elevated Returns is led by Stephane De Baets, a hospitality investor known in the Roaring Fork Valley for major projects including the transformation of the St. Regis Aspen Resort and the ongoing restoration of the historic Redstone Castle. The firm’s approach focuses on long-term stewardship, design quality, and creating places that contribute meaningfully to their communities.
The partnership with The Ritz-Carlton brand signals a commitment to luxury, service, and architectural excellence, positioning Snowmass Village to remain competitive on a global stage while staying true to its mountain-town character.
As the Town’s review moves forward, additional details about the project design, timeline, and opportunities for community input will be released. Design Workshop, a respected planning and design firm, is leading the project’s planning and entitlement work.
For Snowmass Village, this proposal represents more than a single development. It is a chance to thoughtfully reinvest in a central part of town, support workforce housing, and strengthen Snowmass’ identity as a world-class resort and livable mountain community.
We will continue to follow this process closely and share updates as the vision for the West Village continues to take shape.
